They don't have to. The pay is set by the BOD. And the executives sit on each others boards. Not being total dimwits, they realize that if they compensate high, then chances are their own compensation goes up.

I think workers have to have some protections. But there should be restrictions which prevent the unions from being able to extort money and destroy industries as the UAW has. Employers need protections, as well I'm not sure how you get to fairness, but the threat of strikes can be awfully powerful and probably should be limited in some way.

Yeah you want to protect those poor corporations from those all powerful laborers. What a heart you have.
