None of that sounds like the boot camp I took part in. Drill instructors with 3 x 5 cards? I never saw anything like that. Did see a couple kids cry during the first couple days. One of them went over the fence and was picked up at the bus station the next morning, shaved head gave him away.

I would never have cried to go home. I saw a few kids like that in dorms at school. It never engendered them respect and I suspect the recruits had to live it down for a long time.
