The words you wrote suggest that you don't have a clue what these things are.

I took the obligatory marketing courses in the MBA program I was in and that's it. Wasn't my thing. My wife's Masters is in marketing, so she deals with those issues not me.

However, the bullshit you posted has nothing whatsoever to do with the Big Three's problems. The unions caused their problems, not marketing.

The Big 3 spend more money on marketing than any other organizations in this country. I'm certain they have some of the most brilliant minds in the country making decisions about how their budgets are spent.

At any rate, it has nothing to do with their current problem. One could argue that having too many lines may cost them something but I suspect there is more to this story than the average newspaper reporter can comprehend. These kinds of decisions are influenced by marketing but MOST heavily influenced by CVP analysis.
