Watching those last few clips reminded me of how much I miss Howard Cosell. He was the best sports announcer bar none. The Monday night halftime highlights stink today in comparison to the way he presented it.

The attempt to conscript him [and swarms of other people] was contemptible. It would have been great to see him do the best boxing over the next three years. When he came back, he was older, heavier, not as fast and was more of a standard boxer, if still the champion. It was morally and ethically wrong. I have sympathy with Bill Ayers and people who fought literally against conscription/draft/press gang. Individuals are NOT the property of the state, mere state chattels to be disposed of like slaves [even if the pay rate is a bit better]. Governments should pay enough to attract the people they need. There is no reason and it's unethical for other citizens to confiscate the lives of young blokes so that those not going and their buddies can stay home enjoying the high life and profits of control while they send the underpaid conscripts off on stupid megalomaniac futility. If those staying back want somebody to do the dirty work for them, they should get their wallets out and pay the going rate, not be bludgers and slave drivers. Ali did his best work by telling the USA government criminals to go to hell. Good for him. Bill Ayers helped pass on the message. Good for him too. Humans are no longer conquering alpha male territorial dominance hierarchy primate tribes fighting in the jungle with young males to the front and kings, courtiers, women and children to the rear.
