As you know the market prices these things for what they can get at the time. I once saw what the spread was between the manufacturer and the end user. I was shocked at the markup.

Anyway with the new chemistries coming on line from A123 and others things should get interesting fast.

Hi John,

that's not exactly true. Batteries are following a typical curver. Years ago, the best I could get out of my laptop batteries was 1-2 hours. Now I get 8 hours of continuous service and the battery costs are about the same to slight lower. So when technology improves, this is what you typically see. Either the price comes down or the performance goes up or you see a combination of the two. BTW, Tesla uses modified laptop batteries.
