Neo, that graph is easily explained [assuming they have actually measured the data representatively and accurately]. If you look at sun-spots over the last 50 years, you'll see that they have been way above average. With the sun running hot, it's not surprising that it's warmer. ih.fotothing.com Sun-spot cycles there for ease of reference.

See how from 1960 on the peaks have been bigger than normal.

Note how we are heading back into normal lower levels.
