I believe the walnuts took the place of a lot of bad/junk foods I was eating.

That's why nuts are a good snack item. I have found since I got into reading about supplements and diet that I have never seen a field with so much difference of opinion.

I think the major reason is that we react differently to foods and supplements. And opinions get strong.

I was in a car Sunday with a friend and his Lady, who was a Pilate's Instructor from San Francisco. Diet came up and when I told her I started off with Oatmeal, she asked me how I cooked it. When I mentioned "microwave," she came back, "oh, no, that kills the nutrients," and we went from there.

If I ever wrote a book about what I think now on diet, I would start it with the disclamer, "you can find someone who disagrees with everything I say."

I couldn't eat a pound of them in a month.

The point of the experiment was not to replace other foods in the diet with walnuts but to ADD them to the diet to test Dr Davis's claim that you can't gain weight eating walnuts (which is patently absurd).
