I've been interested in this "point of most pain" (as you call it) kind of analysis for several months now, and even briefly discussed something similar on this thread; as a result, I've been reading up on options and gathering an archive (albeit somewhat sporadically, and so far only on paper) of data on SUNW options.

At this point I think there are a lot of external factors that degrade the general usefulness of the analysis. The one you mention -- changes in positions with the passage of time -- is certainly an important one; consequently I'm most interested in effects close to options expiration day.

And yes, the Hong Kong problem may affect us all (especially since I think HK is an important market for Sun). I'm bracing for the worst.
