In general, oil pumps are one of the most reliable parts of any car. The best design was decided on maybe 60 years ago, and hasn't changed much since. A very well-lubricated part!

A seal may fail, but the pumps hardly ever fail. Also, according to what I read, if you do need to replace a Subaru seal, it's a pretty easy job. You don't even need to pull the engine, it's right at the front - you just need to remove some belts to get at it.
