I think the "philanthropic organization" you speak of was a Zionist front for sending Jewish kids to Israel for summer vacation. I'd prefer to see the money spent on Palestinian kids in refugee camps.

Apparently quite a few people and foundations put all their investments with him. The returns weren't so high especially in recent years but the volatility was low. Actually the returns and volatility were very similar to a real estate fund (TIAA Real Estate) I am invested in (based on the data in the Nomura factsheet). The reason the latter is smooth is because they have a stream of pretty predictable rents coming in and they only slowly revalue their properties. But for any trading strategy involving the stock market the volatility was too low relative to the returns.

It looks like even SEC is in bed with this guy.

I wonder if the GBs* put all their eggs in Madoff's basket or they diversified. I read of a philantropic organization that is just closing down because all their money made off to heaven courtesy of Madoff.

*GBs Greedy Bastards

It includes,
A Sentor,
A famous Hollywood director,
A well known Real Estate Mogul,
A famous Sports franchise owner,
Several Europeans banks,
Several wealthy individuals,
Several Charities,

Even some SEC people...
