Personally, I still think this is one area where AMD marketing managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. As long as Intel was tied to their FSB, AMD's hole card was the easy ability to have high performance, multi-socketed systems. When they decided to kill off the more advanced CPU projects, which they undoubtedly has reason to, they should have re-adjusted their pricing and emphasis on multi-socketed systems.

But, they didn't.
