Well, what do you expect from NBC? My dad, who was an old time journalist dedicated to reporting "the news", would be appalled at the press of today. As someone mentioned before, Watergate changed everything - they all want a byline and recognition, they want to be Hollywood stars. It doesn't make a scintilla bit of difference whether what they report is true or not - just that they get their puss on TV. Notice how all the "reporters" have affectations now? It doesn't take much to be able to imitate/copy their mannerisms - Tom Brokaw, Katie, Gibbons (who I now hate and won't watch), even Cronkite - it's all about them - not the news.
