Al, > Exactly...it is the appropriate perception for the car's intended purpose/positioning, but generally a coolness perception of the brand "Ford" or "Chevrolet" and so on...a lot of it has to do with steady strategy. When you think BMW, your mind subconsciously things "the ultimate driving machine"...that's their brand value.

I guess neither you nor John took notice of the Chevrolet "American Revolution" ads over the past few years, starting with this one?

(I just recently learned that this ad was directed by Michael Bay, which is why it has the same feel as the movie "Transformers.")

Ford is also getting into the game, having beaten out Pontiac for the new Knight Rider series:
