You extrapolate to something I never said. The point I think is obvious to anyone with half a brain is that it is better for the US to not be dependent on countries that hate our guts. And yet, we continue to feed our addiction to oil. The Middle East is a toxic brew of archaic thinking, cultural religious mania, and oil rich land the confluence of which leads to terrorism, unemployment, and hatred of what the West stands for. We compound that mess with our heavy handed military involvement in the region. The best course would be to become oil independent and make it so that we only get involved in the Middle East to expand trade of other goods and services or to help the people. Right now, every effort we have in that region is bent towards securing our oil supplies. It's simply not healthy for them or for us.
