we also have a duty to upholding regional peace and stability EVERYWHERE, not just in the Mid-East. That's why we were "subsidizing peace" in Somalia, as well as S. Korea and Japan. We also subsidized peace for 50 years in Europe.

Why do we have that duty? Why isn't that the duty of the whole world? Why is it that everyone wants to US to subsidize everything? This is exactly why we are now bankrupt as a country. We just throw money away on everyone else. It's time to start spending money on ourselves for a change. Our country is crumbling and you bitch and moan about us investing in our own energy infrastructure, and yet, you so blithely want to subsidize the whole world's peace. That's just plain ridiculous.
