This reminds me of the discussion about read-write heads for cruise missiles. The last source of high energy magnets supposedly closed and shipped its technology to China. So I guess we went to Solid State Memories. We have more silicon than China, so we are OK ;) I guess...

Honestly, I would. Oil funds terrorists who have a death wish and Middle Easterners produce nothing else that we want. Do you think that forcing the US economy to non-petroleum energy sources will prevent Arab nations from making money selling LESS EXPENSIVE fossil fuels to DEVELOPING nations?? The global oil market is fungible and the prices are set according to global demand, not solely that of the US. This is why, despite declining US consumption of oil over the past 3-4 years, oil prices still surged based upon actual and perceived demand by China and India. So do you think that those terrorists will find the "arab street" less receptive to their islamo-fascist ideology if 1.4 Billion Muslims are relegated to economic and social turmoil because you've written them off as a society? Do you think that will empower the moderate elements in those societies to create the needed change that over-rules the fundamentalist/religious domination that currently exists? It certainly won't stop the terrorist threat, or the attempts to bring down western secular society. Because they recognize that for them to maintain their control and fulfill the "will of Allah", our society must be destroyed. That ain't going to change just because you prefer to buy Lithium from China and South America than you do oil from the mid-east. Hawk
