A positive role at this stage seems to be to condenm both sides while recognizing verbally Hamas broke the cease fire.

Some grown up has to take charge in gaza and it cant be israel. That ship sailed some time ago.


True - the end game is a bit fuzzy, even if they kill significant figures in Hamas - who would have the popular authority to take charge in Gaza on the PA or Hamas side. It seems Israel would end being an occupier again unless they can get some UN type peacekeepers in place. Someone needs to start making noises about who will fill the role after Israel ceases hostilities.
