I understand we could be burning liquid coal in our vehicles and telling the ME to take a flying fornication in the hole of a cherry donut, but we won't.

We need to be careful to pollute as little as possible. We are doing that. Our environment is worlds cleaner then it was 30 years ago when rivers burned and Lake Erie and Michigan were dead seas. We are worlds ahead of that now. So ignoring coal is not only asinine it's dangerous for our future. The less money we send to those camel jockey's that all want to kill us the better off we will be. How much terror can Iran finance if the USA is not an oil buyer? How much terror can they support at 20 dollars a barrel because oil is a glut on the world market? For that reason alone the money we spend improving coal technology and utilizing coal as if it were oil would be money well spent. Damn site cheaper both in dollar and human life terms then having to go over there to bitch slap them with our military.
