>>such as by Peter Blake being shot in the back by Brazilian pirates boarding the boat in the Amazon<<

Just for the record, the Brazilians caught those pirates and they're now serving long jail terms (averaging 32 years each).

Kiwis not street smart. 1/4 a century in these places I worked and I have never ever had a problem.
I can get into the conferecen circuit in NZ and teach them how to get smart.

"also meet individual demise by criminals, thugs, robbers, ideologues"

My secret is I meet the right type of people:

You've got a bunch of *'glasses of milk' coming from a neighborhood where nothing ever happened and they step in other places whete the land has different laws.
Recipe for returning homeon horizontal position.

Then back home you get the Liberty Valance effect. Print a legend.

Nobody was left to tell the story but here is the story: "Al Qaeda hijacking Allen Beaven's airliner and crashing it when he fought back and got into the cockpit and stopped them going to Washington to kill a lot more people"

Have you seen those guys wearing the captain's uniform in an airliner?

They look like a family doctor in his middle 50's (although not as fit as mid-50s Elmat :-).
And you get him fighting with a ready to die Jihadist?

"Glass of milk" is a slang for kid too little to play among the bigger ones and taken in the team not to be left outside.

Allen Beaven was in the plane. There were three muscle guys, trained to storm the cockpit, plus perpetrator to fly the machine. They might be very mean types.

Perpetrator ascends from 11.000m to 12.400m. Now the guys RF planners on that area, had all the GSM antennas pointing up for people to have indoor coverage in an airplane at cruise speed at that altitude.

Take a flight read the altitide, go to the lavatory and switch your mobile en route. Not in Alaska because you don't have coverage in the widlerness. I mean over inhabitated area. See if you make a call.

Allen makes a good legend because he was a lawyer focused on the environment and every cause seeks a martyr.

What really happen (existential dichotomy, we are the only species who knows we are going to die) they plead for their lives, once knowing the guys were hellbent to die they attacked -out of sheer despair- the muscle guys blocking the way.

Once the cockpit got no communication with the cabin, (in a cabin of an aircraft allow only push and showel and not for hand to hand combat and the muslce guys were busy) the perpetrator had to go Plan B, flew it to the ground.

Stan Shaw firm "said to have ignored repeated diplomatic warnings not to go to the war-torn Russian republic"

Not "even said not to have registered their arrival with the Chechen authorities."

Stan and his three fellows pole climbers were beheaded.

But wait! There's more!
UK admits hostages in Chechnya were asked to report sensitive information
wsws.org

They were on spying mission. Lost heads in a bungled attempt to rescue.

There was much speculation that the deaths had resulted from a bungled rescue attempt. Chechnya's president, Aslan Mashkadov, said he believed the kidnappers had been tipped off that security forces were closing in and decided to kill the hostages first.

His captor -rebel leader Arbi Barayev- was killed later. Family received compensation.

Please let me know of any other heroics of Kiwis.
