As you know, the escalation of the cost of living in a state can be blamed on its governor, particularly if he's a Republican.

I don't know but your assessment is accurate. I'm sure part was housing cost... it used to be so cheap. When housing goes up you have to pay people more and you have to charge more if employees cost more etc.
