Some can, some can't. People buy $40K vehicles every day.

Maybe in your neighborhood.. But in the heartland of America where people are lucky to make $24-30K per year, a $40K car with unproven technology and no dealership infrastructure/expertise to repair it, is a VERY MAJOR consideration.

Maybe you need to travel around a bit more and get out of your ivory tower and monthly parking space with the "Future Tesla Owner" sign.

I'm currently living back in the small town where I grew up. And I can personally attest to the fact that people are already shutting off their spending and not buying new vehicles. Restaurants are more empty than normal and car dealers are wheeling and dealing to clear their inventory.

I'm still trying to figure why you think an electric vehicle has to be cheaper, better performing, more reliable, etc etc, all of those things together, to sell.

Maybe because you think that $$$ grows on trees, and I don't. Or it's possible that you don't read the economic news about unemployment levels and the mortgage crisis.
