Hum, I've never seen him say that.

I guess you can't read.. Mindmelt has constantly been ragging about the subsidies for the oil industry and not drawing any distinction between our support for Persian Gulf countries, or domestic supply.

And that should be pretty clear to you when he says we need to "get off oil" completely.

But there are probably places that are worth more protected than the marginal production of oil

Well, ANWR is not one of them, especially in light of the very small footprint being proposed and planned extensive use of horizontal and slant drilling. In fact, DESPITE the hues and cries of the eco-wackos about harming the fauna in the region, the Porcupine Caribou numbers have consistently increased as they make their mating/nuturing grounds within the vicinity of human facilities where predators fear to tread.

I don't 'face that' at all.

Duh!! That's what I stated... you have your eyes set upon a Tesla and you're completely satisfied that it will only get 200-250 miles between charges and likely not have adequate service and support for when it breaks down. Your Tesla will be your personal "plaything" and that's not what J6P is looking for, especially at the price you're going to pay for it (or even an economy 4 passenger model, should they manage to launch one.. see lawsuit between Tesla and Fisker Automotive which was overturned).

$10k sounds like a lot, but amortized over the life of the batteries it's not that expensive (especially with "fuel" cost savings).

As of this Sept, 2007 article, the battery costs $14K and GM was looking to "lease" it, not buy it, from the manufacturer.

Let me show you how many cars you can purchase for less than $14K:

auto123.com

There, there's IRREFUTABLE PROOF that I can buy a car for LESS than the cost alone of the Lithium battery in the Chevy Volt.

Now you tell me all about the economics of electric cars Roadkill.. And tell us all why J6P would pay 14K for a battery without a car when he can buy the whole vehicle for less??

Based upon the $40K price of the Volt and those $14K cars I showed you, that equates to a hell of a lot of gasoline (even at $2-3/gallon) they can purchase with the money they save, not to mention the ready availability of service and support.

That, pal, is automotive economics 101.
