IF this becomes critical for europe, what are the alternatives besides freezing to death? Is there anything that the US can do to help? or china?

"Its astounding to me that the Europeans would let themselves fall into this trap." What does it auger for the future? Unless Europe is led by cretins, they will be finding ways to move away from Russian gas. And that likely won't improve relations any.
