Maybe I see a hell of a lot of $40K++ vehicles on the street every day.

I did as well, when I lived in Wash, DC.. But around this 10 horse town where I grew up, it ain't so common, except if you own a pickup...

But even PUs are selling for about $25K (with dealer rebate/discount) because people are more inclined to just fix the one they have, or buy a used car.

Bottom line.. you need a strong economy to get your electric vehicles into the mainstream where both manufacturing volumes bring down prices (so long as Lithium production keeps pace), and you need to get rid of the glut of existing new vechicles, as well as the used ones...

This can EASILY take 5 years, unless people like you decide to implement a European style solution and put a $2/gallon tax on fuel.

How about this, as an EV subsidy we give a $10K tax credit for each vehicle to cover the cost of the battery.

Why not give everyone a $10K tax credit (take it from the Rich people like you, of course.. ;0) and help them convert their EXISTING vehicle to NG?? Won't need to manufacture new vehicles immediately, and all of those used vehicles that still have considerable life in them will now be environmentally friendly.
