Same effect. After buying that new handbag or laptop PC or gas grill, consumers will go back to their thrifty ways. Retail sales, etc., will experience a temporary bump-up, but that's it. The fundamentals of the recession will not change.

I know I must sound like a guy who spends more time denouncing solutions than coming up with alternatives (God knows how I'm accused of that by the "you shut up" liberals every single day), but I'm trying to think more long-term here. Temporary relief is OK, but how about actually fixing the problem instead? I'd rather go through a "lost two years" than a "lost decade."
