they will destroy most savers

The G30 is international in scope, so nothing gets done without consent.

The reforms are necessary but will focus of course on the big banks, i.e., the Amnerican ones.

The mega banks will no longer be, no more 'too big to fail'. A terrific thing for the f**k-ups get Darwinized in the future rather than bailed out. The market is doing that to them already despite the billions in stupidly spent bailouts.

Volcker will have to think of a scheme to deal with derivatives for they are the real problem. If they blow up like they can, savers and wastrels alike get the shaft. Nuclear explosions don't distinghish between the good, the bad or the ugly.

Gold likes the scheme. I think it is responding to it today for it means dollar down as sanity returns and hot money starts to leave Treasuries.
What I like best about the proposed reforms is the fact that the Wall St. thugocracy will have to end up doing honest work. Hope they can['t] find it. In a perfect world, I would like to see the Boeskys, Milkens, Madoffs, Skillings, Macks, etc. of the world lined up for an old fashioned horse-whipping. I think that would be a lot more salutary than what we do now.
