shopping yesterday I saw liquid Tide on the shelf for 18.99. I seem to remember it being 13.99 in the past. No gaps in the shelf stock for it, but the generic and low price brands were selling. They will get real soon or the price might just be in advance of a BOGO promotion. MP

I saw that in the grocery store Sunday. I also noted that it looks like some grocery stores are in trouble. Some don't want to compete anymore.

aj

You got my curiosity up.
What is a good price for detergent?

(I'm responsible for junk food stuff)

My wife agrees that Tide is a rip-off.
She told me she buys by price point (whats on sale) -
not by brand.

For those that like ice cream. The best value I have
seen is at stop and shop for hagaan-daz.

You can buy 2 pints for $7.00. (3.50 a pint)
All last year it was 2 pints for $6.00.

Nevertheless, the price for 1 pint at any other store ranges from $4.49 to $5.56 - at least in the other stores that
we go into.

Also stop and shop has frequent sales on bounty 15 roll
paper towels at $9.99. I have not seen it lower and not
certain if walmart sells it.

regards
John

Everything you said could be true, and yet have no relationship to inflation or deflation, at least as computed by the CPI, which excludes "volatile" components.
