Don't be silly. Even if domestic oil was 100% subsidized, we still would not have enough oil to be self-sufficient. I take that back. If we tapped into oil shale, maybe we could, but that would not be very economical. Much more economical to diversify our energy sources through nuclear and alternatives than to tap oil shale at these market prices.
