Thanks Charlie the DSP information makes it clear that TI is gaining momentum in DSP'S.I agree with you about the $2.5 billion ------it sems like they are deploying the money strategicly and investing in tools and seeding the Universities and third parties---very much like they did with their Instructional calculator business which is now very much in a leadership position.
Do you think they will invest a good chunck in fabs or maybe look for an up and coming company to buy?
Thanks again for the information----clears up the question and kills the allegation that Dsp is a pipe dream that is to be short lived.

Thanks for posting the numbers. I haven't gone through my
calculations, but it looks like I took a statement on component
sales to be semiconductor sales for the 4Q96, this explains
my over-estimating DSPS sales in that quarter.

I really appreciate your post, as it includes numbers rather than
just the usual words I get from most of the postings here. Would
love to see numbers for DRAM sales for those quarters, etc.

By the way, the TI-Acer thing Bonnie refers to above works out
to me to be a hit of about 11 cents per share for 97 earnings.
Did I get that right?
