Point taken. Regulators were pressured/intructed not to regulate by Wall Street $$$, Congress and administration, both parties.

It's not that we need a bunch of new regulations, there's already enough on the books. It's that they simply were not applied. Regulators, even prosecutors looked the other way.

And, yes, a viable 3rd party is desparately needed.

Little joe, you and I have a different understanding of, politics, philosophy and what is going on and what has gone on.

PBS does not make up stuff or lie!!! Besides I have seen what they say below verified by lots of reputable people. How come you cannto understand this stuff???

READ THIS!!: The Public Broadcasting Station PBS on the program "NOW" pinpointed the problem to the banks stripping out CCC/BBB paper repackaging it into collateralized debt obligations CDO'S and then Moody's and Standard and Poors recertified it as AAA paper (fraud) which they sold around the world as triple AAA CDO's at huge profits. The bush administration did nothing to regulate that and it was their responsibility.

Whomever you are listenting to, I am sure does not have the credentials of PBS!!!!!

"government was not allowed to regulate them" (business)

little joe: "That is just not true. Government is run by politicians and under they law they are free to pass or repeal any regulations they choose. The section of the CFR that deals with securities regulation would fill a room and takes attorneys who are specialists to understand and administer them.

All one has to do is follow the money look who makes the big contributions, look who they are made to and it is easy to figure out.

Dems and Reps sold us out. Barney, Dodd chief perps on the Dem side. The administration and it bureaucrats on the Rep side. And they are still doing it. I recently read that the receipients of the bail out money were among the heavy hitters who paid for innauguration.

Want more proof. The Federal government and every state has laws against fraud under which those who are responsible could be prosecuted. Where are the prosecutions??

Truth is big money has paid off and continues to pay off the pols in both parties. The pols argue over things they don't intend to do anything about anyway "hope and change" whose medical plan is better, pulling out of Iraq, etc.

All they are doing is misdirecting our attention so they can steal us blind.

We need a new party. When will we figure out that nothing will change until we change who goes to Washington.<<

Little Joe, most of your posts here seem to be partisan bickering over United Statian politics.

Please take it somewhere else, perhaps one of the dozens of boards right here on SI that are designed for that type of content. It is highly inappropriate to post it here.

Just to show I am non-partisan, I also wish koan would knock it off on this board.

EC gets away with it because he shares his geological knowledge with us.
