The campaign to take over school boards and such dates back to the 80's at least, . . .

The one in Texas to control the textbook process goes back at least to the 60s. The school board campaigns and the textbook process campaigns are different while linked.

My own memory is that you are right about the school board campaigns, at least when it surfaced nationally. My memory is that it was in Kansas where the national print media began to write about it.

I'm trying to remember the name of the Texas guy who was the mind and money behind the Texas textbook campaign. It will come to me one of these days.
