Ian,

This latest round of profit taking has led to many opportunities. I have yet to re-establish positions but my list FWIW:

SFAM -45
ADEX -28
AMAT -36
SVGI -27
EGLS -20

I recently bought KLIC as well...It's been a nice correction but this is not 95,96'. Nov 20 AMAT CC will steer the ship but my thinking is we will rally into that date and w/ any positive outlook we'll be off and running. I understand the buy and hold mentality but this industry IMO just begs to be traded..

Ian,

The cheerleading is encouraging, but don't forget the statement buried in KLAC's EPS news release, "New order volume was slightly below
revenue levels..."

Of course, since we were not allowed to access to the conference call, it was difficult to ask for elaboration about the "seasonal factors" blamed for this.

It looks like the conerns about the devaluation of some currencies and higher interest rates has center stage for now. Not many investors or advisors are aware of the points made in Lam's conference call.

The TA of the semi equipment sector still looks negative but many of the indicators have reached the point where the likelihood of a turn around is growing every day. Significant good news on moderation of interest rates or currency valuations could turn the tide. It looks to me that the momentum may take another few days to turn around. Then it is hard to tell if this will be a bottom or the sector will retest or go a bit lower. Bad news has a way of hanging around longer than it is welcome. My guess is that the turn around will be confirmed within the next two weeks and likely by the end of next week if no new bombshells are dropped. It will take analysts through at least the early part of next week to run all this new information through the mill and come out with new buy recommendations.
