Bush's principal mistake, imo, was to roll over for the democrats in the name of bi-partisanship. Even when he went along, they stuck it to him. After being maligned for so long, I think Bush lost heart on some level. Whether or not Bush was effective in his last term has little to do with discussing the plans and promises of Obama. Even though you are trying to give him a chance, the first thing you noted was that his promise of job creation made no sense. Well duh! The guy is all smoke and mirrors. He's talking to the people who couldn't even be constitutionally subject to execution in Texas.
