Question for you. Do you have an iPhone? And if so, did you pay $500 for it?

Nope.. And I won't buy one because I can't change the battery. Was one of the BIGGEST mistakes that AAPL made, IMO.

My friends and associates, some of whom have one, will vouch for my stand on the matter.

But I'll also tell you that I would be really p*ssed off if I was one of the first people to buy a new PHEV car model and within 3 months the manufacturer lowered the price by 100% (which is effectively what they did with the Iphone).

The contract pays back the IPhone subsidy and more fairly rapidly. This doesn't apply to most alternative energy subsidies, many of which never effectively get paid back.
