I am interested in your take in yesterdays iraqi election---not whether it was worth the cost or whether the surge is responsible,,,just how view where the US is in iraq now.

Suffrage is a good thing...but Iraq is a severely factionalized society...the true iraq won't be clear to the world until and only after we leave...what we have today is a forced kind of peace on disparate sects who have been warring on each other for 14 centuries over religion and money...what they do after the anvil of american force is removed is up to them and totally up in the air...if history is a teacher, they start killing each other again...I hope not. Anyone who says that we know what happens next or that what we did was worth it, with 1400 years of history against the odds, is full of shit
