DOJ case exposes ugly underbelly of Microsoft business practices. www5.zdnet.com

Our take: Ballmer's reaction exposes the company's attitude at the same time this case exposes the company's seamy business practices to the harsh light of day. As shocking as this is, the most unsettling revelation is the news that Microsoft required its {OEM } "partners" to report any planned contact with government officials. If that's not illegal, it should be. It implies a threat of reprisal if OEMs so much as inquire about their rights.

Sounds like it's time for Sal to give Liz Enbysk the lecture on how it's unethical to be ethical in business.

Cheers, Dan.
