$60k...is that an average? if so, please reveal your source. very unlikely that teachers make more than engineers. in fact, studies show teachers are underpaid when compared to occupations with similar educational requirements. all contributing workers deserve a decent retirement. my father's pension (oh, the evil boilermakers union-g-) enabled him to pay for his health insurance and kept him off public assistance until he died. many of the seniors in his apartment complex were proud conservatives who bled every possible cent from any social service available. these were the same individuals who cried about taxes when conversation turned political. go figure...
