By all accounts he was going to be approved had he not bailed out.

The Rs were clearly going to make noise about it, as they should have, but nobody believed his nomination would be stopped, even by a most egregious tax violation.

Never was too fond of Daschle anyway. A career lobbyist, he was a poor choice for HHS Secretary.

Actually yes. Obama took the hit yesterday on NBC for misunderestimating the import of the issue.
