Amazing how it's still hard to get a quote on some services even though the ticker symbols are a month old now.

Seven Morgan Keegan funds change name, will bear Helios brand
By David Flaum (Contact), Memphis Commercial Appeal
Tuesday, December 30, 2008

Seven mutual funds once under the Regions Financial-Morgan Keegan banner have new names as of Monday.

Six of the funds, managed by Hyperion Brookfield Asset Management since July, also gained new trading symbols.

Each fund name now starts with Helios, Hyperion's brand name.

"Nothing else has changed," said Marion Hayes, a spokeswoman for the New York investment firm that took over management of the funds from Morgan Keegan and Co., the Memphis-based brokerage firm owned by Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala.

"It's not right that for these funds to be named Regions Morgan Keegan funds when they're managed by us," Hayes said.

That includes four closed-end funds, whose shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange, and the three open-end funds -- investors buy and sell shares directly from and to the fund.

The management change developed after sharp drops in the value of shares in the funds, much of the action related to investments in subprime mortgage securities.

Hyperion managers still have an issue to resolve with the Helios Multi-Sector High Income Fund. Because its price traded at an average of less than $1 a share for 30 days, NYSE officials are threatening to de-list fund shares.

Fund shares ended normal trading hours at 57 cents.

Hyperion board members have not set a plan to keep that from happening, Hayes said. They have until April to decide what to do, she said.

The only redeeming qualities of the Helios funds are that they still have a large discount to NAV, and the leverage is relatively low. Minuses are the small size and the big expense ratio.
