When you look at the mix of Senate seats at play in 2010, the odds of Republicans picking up more than a couple of seats in there are minimal. And the gap in the House is so large that losing a few seats there too also wouldn't hurt much.

The political dynamic now is what Obama tries to achieve, what he gets passed and whether it works. I don't see him shying away from what he thinks is right in that campaign. Then voters can judge his efforts in 2012.

The folks who want to mark Obama's 2 1/2 weeks in office so far as a precarious failure are just giving into melodrama, the way I read the situation. But we are going to disagree on this, so let's move on.
