I have always believed that socialism is the best form. Not capitalism, not communism. But the prevailing opinion in this country is "free markets". When I immigrated here eons ago (President Carter's days), I had heard a lot about the success of US's "free market". But then a shock to me was to learn that the US also had the "welfare system" and I wondered how the two mixed. But again as Obama says, the country is hurting and this is the time that our reps should pass the stimulus package instead of discussing their personal philosophies. I am hoping the Senate passes the package over the weekend.
