Even if you believe that gold and silver are the only true things then you have to figure out the best way to take advantage of that. A friend of mine is buying "physical" gold and I always ask him how he's going to cash in on that if things get really tough. Does he keep it at home or in a safe deposit box? Wherever he keeps it, HOW is he going to get cash from it? If things get REALLY bad does he thing he'll be able to haul it down to the local coin store? Will there still BE a local coin store? I prefer stocks, or as you mentioned, warrants or other derivatives. If the MARKETS cease to exist, then I prefer AMMO and CANNED SOUP.
