Instead of 10,000 pieces of orbiting space junk now thanks to the collision there is 100,000 thousand pieces of space junk.

One more collision will mean 1,000,000 pieces of orbiting space junk making the satellite business very explosive.

Back around 1983-86 I was out for a walk one night in Anchorage and witnessed a spectacular set of fireballs falling toward the west. Later I heard on the news that it was a large piece of space junk burning up on reentry. I think it was a Soviet satellite or booster rocket.
