Whenever you see low HDL with "normal range" LDL, with a positive calcium score, you can count on your LDL being high in small dense LDL. It causes six times more MI's and anginas than high large LDL.

Remember, half the heart attacks occur in people with "normal" lipids. That's why Lipo analysis is the wave of the future.

It really ticks me off that I have to go though all this to get a heart scan and an advanced lipid panel done. These Cardios believe that the biggest advance in CAD diagnositics is the bi-plane X-ray machine with it's flat panel digital readouts. They consider the hours they spend in the Cath lab to be golden. They are so wrapped up in their technical procedures that they really have no interest in you until you have an event.

The true advance in the last twenty years is the heart scan and the lipo analysis. But most Cardios not only don't use them, they bad-mouth them. They have no concept of using scans serially to check CAD progress and Lipo Analysis to drill down to the real problem.
