Stan,

While, again, this is not my primary area of expertise, let me try to clarify a few things. Others here, please correct me as is appropriate.

In the non-Internet version of the product, there are two possible scenarios. In one, BT or another telephone company would mail server software to a corporation to put on the corporation's server, along with client software which the corporation would then load on managers' PCs. The monthly call data would then either be downloaded by or mailed on CD to the corporation. In this scenario, there is no further interaction during the month between the telephone company and the customer.

The second possible non-Internet scenario is the orginal BT product (as I understand it; remember, I do not know for sure) whereby a large computer at BT would act as the server and PCs on a client's premises would act as the clients, enabling individual managers to access the software, using db Express to create on-line ad hoc reports, etc. The conection would be made over the public network or via a leased line, and the software would be proprietary and possibly customized for each corporate customer.

The Internet version replaces the client-server paradigm. In other words, the traditional client-server model has been replaced by standard client software called a browser. Here, the only server is BT's Internet web server. The billing information is accessed over the Internet using a standard web browser. Refer to the post of mine to which you responded as to why I do not see why this is such a big deal.

HTH,

Steve
