All those low fifties percent are barely a majority, and are rather general with the exception of "support the just passed stimulus bill". The 51% from that is lower than Democratic support in recent elections, and is higher than other polls, so in addition to perhaps being an overestimate its hardly the sign of new trouble for Republicans. As for the other items 88% say government should help rebuild communities affected by natural disasters. That's something that Republicans have long supported, not much partisan difference between Democrats and Republicans on this one. 68% say the government should make sure everyone has food. Food stamps, and other forms of government food aid have long been in place. Nothing new, and again little partisan difference here. 66% say the government should make sure everyone has health care. OK, this one might be trouble for the Republicans (in addition to being a problem for the country). In general terms everyone already does have access to health care, but the ideas behind this figure probably go further than that, and can be spun to go still further. 51% say government should make sure everyone who wants a job should have a job. That's a problem for any sane government.
