I have very high LP(a).

This is the worst one. I am so glad you have lost weight and are off wheat. All of the TYP people with this problem are taking niacin and extra Omega 3's daily. It is the hardest symptom to correct. Here is a recent post by "Hearthawk," an associate of Dr Davis's who does his internet site:

And now, some good news . .

I had been watching my Lipoprotein(a) steadily rise for the last few years. Note the slow, nasty rise! You can roughly multiply the mg/dL numbers by 2 to convert to nmol/L (LipoScience converted to nmol/L in later years).

So there I sat at roughly triple the TYP limit and that was with 3g niacin per day. I even double checked it when I hit 230 nmol/L. So what to do? Read the Special Reports! Doc Davis kept pounding thyroid normalization and ggglll kept beating me up over mega-dose fish oil - so I tried it. Well, the new results are in. After a few months on 5g/day (EPA/DHA) fish oil and only partial thyroid correction. The new number is (drum roll please)

118 nmol/L a roughly 50% decrease!

Now, I have significant room for continued improvement but remember, my thyroid is still not up to snuff. Let's see if I can get this sucker even lower - but for now - I'll take the 50% decrease!

Thanks for all the suggestions (and brow beating) ladies and gentlemen. It paid huge dividends. I know I am only an "n" of one but I am happy to BE that one!

Regards,

HeartHawk
