A big shortcoming at the wrong time. He's been forced to put his trust in whomever has been placed by his side. A big problem now may be O's reluctance to stand up on his own and do an about face and drop the losers. How much confidence would that show during what are already hair trigger moments? The message may not be too well-received and could really start things tumbling.
Remember how the prospect of no Treasury Secretary was treated by the mkts?

The election centered from being all about Iraq to the economy almost overnight, with little time for anyone to adjust. Not voters, candidates, or campaigns. And that turnabout was again due to the deception of our former commander of disaster.

I'll still take O over McPalin any day.
