Speaking of whole grains, Poet, I have noticed a trend in the grocery stores whereby the bakers label regular bread "Wheat" bread. It looks like whole wheat bread, but if you read the label it's really no different than plain white bread.

People need to read labels when they shop. Often times the FDA allows the food industry to market things in a very sneaky manner.

Another misnomer is how the cooking sprays can show zero calories per serving. They are nothing more than propelled vegetable or olive oil, but a loophole in the FDA rules allow them to show zero or low calorie values per serving.

Most of what I know about nutrition I learned in junior high, but I am astonished at how oblivious people are with regards to nutrition.

I'm also amazed at the money blown on organic food at the grocery store. Norman Borlaug, the architect of the Green Revolution says it's a total waste of money to pay more for organic food. If a man who's probably saved the lives of a billion people and has a Nobel Prize says that, I'm going with what he says.

I love it when I see celebrities eating organic, free-range food and lighting up a cigarette. It really makes me respect their commitment to healthy living and protecting the environment. <G>
