The problems with a Balanced Budget Amendment are they will always be looking for loopholes in it. For example, there will always be a state of National Emergency therefore, an exception to it, or continuous wars, or taking certain expenses off budget. It's all a game. Even when our currency was supossedly backed by gold, guess what they did, they print more money than they had by gold by wide margins. This happened preceeding both big devaluations of the dollar, once in 1933 and the other in 1971. To save money, it would be nice if the Supreme Court would finally stop allowing Congress to stretch the Commerce Clause of the Constitution to allow the Federal Govt to be regulating every aspect of American Life and the costs of enforcing such regulations. If half the Federal Govt was ruled unconstitutional, that would save us all a lot of budget deficits.
